IDC will be established on thirteen acres of land at Hindagala, Peradeniya. It adjourns the Raja maha Vihara, is in
proximity to the University of Peradeniya and lies about half a km away off the Kandy-Galaha main road. It is at a distance
of 8 km from Kandy and 31/2km from the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.
Topography and Climate
It is a sloping
land covered with a number of bo trees and scattered vegetation and strewn small and large rocks. One main stream flows down
quietly along the southern border creating a few waterfalls among the rocks. A cool and healthy climate prevails in the area.
Scenic Beauty of the Site
To the west, the site commands a fascinating and panoramic view of the surrounding hills and the valley
of the river Mahaweli, which can drive many a viewer to raptures. It is
no exaggeration to say that this idyllic setting of nature’ resplendence provides an ideal environment for ennoblement
of mind and intellectual ferment.
